Ripple

Courage sends shockwaves through your whole life.

Ripple is what happens when a single moment moves the surface.
A small shift. A lasting impact.

I boarded a plane and cried. I was scared.
Flying alone to my first artist residency, miles from home, with no idea what was waiting for me.

I was brave. I was supported.
He never stops reminding me that I am enough, and that fills my heart every time.

I worked. I experimented. I explored. The city, myself, my limits.
I climbed an active volcano. You could hear it. Feel it deep in your chest.
The roar, the tremble, the invisible force moving everything inside and around you.

It was the hardest thing I have ever done. Not just physically, but mentally.

I wanted to quit. I got lost in the dark.
No one behind me to support me. No one ahead to guide me.
Just me, the cold, the blackness, and the voice inside telling me to stop.

But I did not.

When you throw a rock into still water, it creates ripples.
Small stones make small waves. Big stones move the whole surface.

This piece holds that moment.
The first ripple.
